Student Excellence Scholarship

Cebu International School is the only IB Continuum World School in Cebu, with students from more than 20 nationalities.

The CIS Student Excellence Scholarship is a full-tuition, renewable scholarship for outstanding Filipino students from Philippine schools who demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership, and the potential to thrive in an international learning environment.

This scholarship offers high-achieving Filipino students the opportunity to study at CIS and experience high-quality IB teaching and learning, develop international-mindedness, and become part of a caring community of lifelong learners, opening pathways to leading colleges and universities around the world.

The CIS Student Excellence Scholarship is open to Filipino students entering Grade 9 in August 2026 who have attended only local Philippine schools. Applicants with any international or overseas school experience are not eligible.

The CIS Scholarship is open for Filipino students applying for new admission into Grade 9 for school year 2026-27. We would be pleased to receive applications from students with outstanding academic records and the potential to contribute positively to the wider life of our school.

In our selection process we will take into consideration the following:

  • Aptitude to be a successful IB student
  • Intercultural understanding and fit with our community
  • Potential to contribute to student life through athletics, the arts, service, and student leadership 

All scholarship candidates will have to meet standard CIS admissions requirements as well as pass the requirements of the CIS Scholarship Committee.

Preference for scholarships will be given to students who are not only academically qualified and demonstrate the ability to meet the rigors of the program, but also to those who demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school, such as through sports, arts, and service.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have Filipino Citizenship
  • Must have completed Grade 8 in a local Filipino (public or private) school
  • Demonstrate high academic achievement (candidates must submit copies of recent report cards and/or Form 137) with no grades below 90 in all subject areas
  • Show proof of involvement in after-school activities, e.g. school publications, student council, sports, etc. (please provide corresponding papers/certifications).
  • Meet all regular CIS entrance requirements
  • Have an excellent command of oral and written English
  • Must not have attended CIS in the past
  • Possess high personal standards and be in good health
